I'm writing a chapter for a book. And it feels really good. The book hasn't been accepted yet, and I'm only at the abstract stage, and I dont really want to get into what it's about. But it's cool. And only semi-academic, and I'm hoping it will reach a larger audience. It's also possible that it will be a conference paper, since some of the other folks working on the book are forming a panel for the ASA conference this fall.
It's funny how non-academic stuff feels like a warm up for school, but it's somehow a lot harder for me to write. I don't really know how to strike the balance between conversational and brilliant that this anthology warrants.
We'll see, we'll see. Now, I really just need to get the abstract edited and smartened up, and I suppose, sent in. ASAP. I write while Peanut is sleeping, and I'm awake. It's an interesting experience, actually. It's like an interesting sincopated rhythm of life. Working between the beat. It highlights the straight beat I have of taking care of Peanut and yet, makes it so much more fun to live.
